TRAY’s dynamic Guest Control feature gives users more versatile control over the items on a check and how they are distributed across guests. This makes it simpler for the kitchen to identify which items are grouped together, and more importantly makes it simpler to split payments by guest without having to do any math or last minute splitting.
As a best practice, it is recommended to start a check by using the correct guest assignments. While this might take a few more seconds on order entry, it could save you minutes when it comes time to check out.
Configuration
To configure guest control, the Guest Control setting must be changed from Hide to Show within the POS settings.
You can configure specific destinations (Table Numbers) to have a pre-defined guest count, so that when you start a check at that destination the check automatically populates with 5 guests, for example.
You can also configure a specific Revenue Center to automatically prompt a user for a guest count upon starting the check. If the prompt for Guest Count is enabled, it will override the destination capacities
Using Guest Control
Once you have started a check, you can add or remove items to individual guests, or add items to "All Guests" which could be appetizers or other shared items.
To add or remove guests on a check, you can utilize the Guest Control buttons here in the middle of the screen. Pressing the + will add a guest to the check, pressing - will remove a guest from a check. Pressing and holding on either on of those buttons will allow you to enter in a custom number.
If you do not see these buttons, and instead see quantity buttons, that means you do not have guest control enabled. See the section above on configuration.
When adding items to the cart, you can first select the appropriate guest number, and then from there you can add items to that guest, until you are ready to select your next guest. Before you have fired those items, you can move them easily by tapping on them and pressing a different guest number, for example if you wanted to move a burger from Guest 1 to Guest 2.
Once the items have been fired (you can tell if an item has been fired by the status indicator next to the item) you will then need to Transfer the items from one guest to another by selecting the item(s) and then pressing the blue "Transfer" button
Permission Requirements: TransferItems
Transferring items will allow you to move an item from one guest to another, to move an item to a new guest, or to transfer an item to an existing check. We will soon be adding an option to transfer items from the current check onto a new check.
