Adding a name to check allows you to identify an order on the cook line or easily find an open or closed check. It also personalizes receipts and improves the guest experience. You can add a guest name to a new or reopened check. Note: You cannot add a name to a closed check. To add a guest name on the POS, from the order screen, hit the Add Name button in the group of buttons listed to the right of the check number.
Depending on your HQ Configurations, the POS will automatically prompt you for a check name at certain points in the ordering process. See Revenue Centers - Services (HQ) for more info
Enter a name for the guest check and press the ACCEPT button.
The guest's name will now appear next to the check number on the order side of the screen. The guest's name will now also print clearly on the guest's receipt, and on order chits (if configured).
Renaming a Check
If needed, you can select the white "Rename" button to the right of the guest's name and rename the check or correct a name.
Now, whether the check is open or closed, the check can be searched for by entering the guest name in the search bar in the Checks tab. This is especially useful when searching for a check when you do not have the check number readily available.
NOTE: If paying by Credit Card, the POS will pull the name from the card and show it here in the checks list for searching purposes. If swiping a credit card (not allowed with EMV devices unless card has not read 3 times successfully with chip) then the name on the card will be shown. Typically when using EMV, NFC, or mobile wallet pay, the card brand will be displayed instead
The guest's name will also be displayed on the bottom of their order on the expo and cook screens, if the check name was entered PRIOR to firing the order.
Lastly, the guest's name will also be displayed under the Tab Name column when running a Checks report in TRAY HQ.
Note: You cannot search for a guest name in HQ like you can on the POS, but it will still be displayed on the report
