Modifiers are sub-choices or modifications of a product. Modifiers inherit certain properties of the parent item they are assigned to. For instance, a modifier is not taxed or routed separately from its parent item, and cannot be ordered independently from that item. Modifiers can be used to make different changes to items such as add or remove toppings on your sandwich, specify the cook time on your steak, mandate a side choice with your meal, change the dressing that comes with your salad, or add extra items for an up-charge, etc.
Modifiers must live inside a modifier group in order to be visible on the POS. Please view the article on Creating a Modifier Group.
In TRAY you can also use Products as modifiers, conveniently referred to as "Product Modifiers". Product modifiers differ from true modifiers in that they can be routed, and taxed separately from the parent item.
From the SITES tab on HQ, access your site. Then, from the left-hand menu, click on the Menus tab, followed by the Modifier Groups sub-tab and then the Modifiers sub-tab.

Sub Modifier(s) Tab
Sub Modifier(s) tab allows you to assign modifier groups to the modifier, otherwise known as a Sub-Modifier Group.
NOTE: If the modifier exists in any modifier groups, that modifier group will be removed from the dropdown below. This is a safety measure built into the system to prevent 'Loops' from being created. In short, a modifier cannot be a modifier of itself.

Bulk Add, Edit, and Delete Modifier
Bulk Add
Bulk Adding allows you to add multiple modifiers at the same time. When Bulk Adding, the user is only able to enter the modifier name and the price. The format is Modifier Name, Price. The modifier name and price should be separated by a comma and a space. Multiple modifiers should be entered on separate lines, press enter on the keyboard to move the cursor to the next line.
Bulk Edit
Bulk Editing allows you to make changes to multiple modifiers at the same time. Click on the check boxes of the modifiers you want to edit, or check the box at the top to select all of the modifiers that are displayed on the screen. Then click on the edit pencil symbol to edit all of the selected Modifiers at once. The available fields are the same as the ones in the Add Modifier section of this article.
Note: The Update Existing flag when checked will update all fields with the new edits entered during bulk edit. When left un-checked it will only update fields that have not been configured previously.
Bulk Deleting allows you to delete multiple modifiers at the same time. Similar to above you must first select multiple modifiers in order to use the bulk delete function.
Once the information has been added or updated, you will need to click the black "Save" button. After saving the changes, Publish the information by using the blue “Publish” button at the top of the screen. Choose “Menus” and then click the black “Publish” button.
