TRAY currently supports 4 Gift Card providers:
The process to issue/reload gift cards is the same, regardless of the gift card provider. The first step to issuing a gift card is to have the appropriate gift card products created in the menu [link pending].
From the POS, you can think of Issuing Gift Cards as a three-part process:
- Order - begin by ringing up a gift card product from the menu
- Load - proceed to the payment screen to assign the value to the card
- Pay - Apply a payment
Navigate to the menu subsection with your Gift Card products
From the available options, select your gift card product. When selecting an Open Gift Card, a prompt to set the price will appear (Required permission: ChangePrice).
Once you add gift card products to the cart, you will immediately be prompted to enter a quantity of gift cards you would like to issue
Send the order and progress to the activation screen, which will show up automatically
The status of each gift card product is indicated by a small white bubble next to the price (e.g. "0/2 Swiped"). Select the corresponding status bubble to prompt for card swipe(s). (Note: when issuing, gift cards must be swiped, they cannot be manually entered). Swipe the card, and you will see the screen populate with the card information. Repeat as necessary. Press CONTINUE.
As you swipe the cards, you will get a printed chit for each card showing the value of the card. You can provide this to the guest.
Once you have finished swiping your Gift Cards, press the "Done" button and the proceed to applying a payment to the check
Once the payment has been applied to the check, the check will close automatically. You can confirm the status of the gift cards by the status bubble next to each gift card (e.g. "1/1 Loaded").
