Generally, voids and comps are used in a restaurant by staff to mark their orders in certain situations. It is very important that your staff must understand the difference between the voids and comps as they impact your sales and finances.
The void is an item that was never made or delivered to the guest and does not reflect in the orders or bills.
For example, guest orders more than required and reduced the items immediately.
TRAY provides exclusive void reports for owners to understand how the items being void. See Void Report.
Comp is an item that was made and delivered to the guest but not paid. Comp items reflect on orders or bills and impact the finance for restaurant owners.
Some scenarios where comps are applicable are:
- Rewarding your existing customers with a free meal
- A mistake from the restaurant in preparing the items
- Part of Promotions or Discounts
Restaurant owners can view the items that are marked comp. See Comps Report.
